Samahang Pilipino is a multi-faceted student organization which addresses the specific needs of the Pilipino community of UCLA and the greater Los Angeles area. Since 1972, Samahang has been committed to addressing five key aspects of Pilipino life: cultural, social, political, academic, and community. Samahang remains a family away from home and a bridge to our cultural roots.

Samahang Pilipino Core Values
• Social Justice: Exercising student power to achieve social equity.
• Critical Approach: A mindset composed of analysis, evaluation, and inquiry for constant understanding and growth.
• Relevant Education: The gradual process of acquiring, personalizing, and applying knowledge that is pertinent to understanding one’s identity, culture, and connection to one’s community.
• Collectivism: Individuals who invest in one another towards a common goal through community-building.
• Sustainability: An organization which fosters longevity through transparency to create long-term solutions.

Samahang Pilipino Vision Statement 2010-2011
Samahang Pilipino envisions a unified community that:
• Explores and celebrates diverse Pilipin@/Pilipin@-American identities and struggles
• Derives responsibility through analyzing and understanding history, culture, and self
• Collectively transforms systems of power in order to achieve equity within and beyond the university

Samahang Pilipino Mission Statement 2010-2011
We, as Samahang Pilipino, will:
• Create open spaces to dialogue about diverse experiences and identities
• Actively engage and invest student leaders to provide services, organize, and advocate for themselves and the community
• Build and strengthen relationships with allies and stakeholders on and off campus
